Cost of Diabetes
Add data from other countries.
The Cost of Diabetes Care graph shows the average direct health care costs per person with diabetes in US dollars (2006 value).
The Cost Split graph shows the division of direct diabetes costs for each country based upon spending for Institutional Care, Medication and Supplies, and Outpatient Care.
Return On Investment
With diabetes prevalence predicted to increase, future costs are also expected to increase if there are not changes in average diabetes outcomes. To see the difference in projected costs associated with diabetes by achieving targets, earlier detection, and primary prevention, click the link in the chart.
Reference: This illustration of future costs of diabetes under four different scenarios is the result of a computer simulation using information from the United Kingdom Prospective Diabetes Study (UKDPS) and the CORE Diabetes model. The simulation is for a generic, fictitious country with information drawn from a UK-specific study, and users should consider this when applying the findings to other country settings.
About The Data
Please note that because standards and methods of data collection vary widely in different parts of the world, comparisons should be used
with caution. Comparisons are only valid if the data collection circumstances and population are similar. Comparisons may provide useful inspiration
for improvement. Please feel free to contact Novo Nordisk at any time to learn more.
